What's the story with the 60/40 split? The last two times I have gone for diesel I have paid practically (within a few pence per litre) the same for red diesel for the boat as I pay for white for my car. I declare the 60/40 split of course, but what's the point if it make heehaw difference? FWIW I just filled my car up an hour ago at £1.01 and paid £0.98 at Portavadie Marina on Sunday for red. Not exactly an earth shattering difference is it?

Out of interest, has everyone just accepted the hike in fuel costs and carrying on boating in the same way as say four years ago? FWIW as far as I can tell from the (large) marina my boat is berthed in, when I raise the issue with people they usually put a brave face on it with a "who cares, I love my boat and it costs what it costs" kind of attitude. That's all well and good, and admirable but I can't help noticing that their boats never move from the pontoon! Honestly they never move. They visit them. They stay on them - but they don't go anywhere on them! Out on the water I can't help noticing that most of the mooring/berths in places which would take a 20 mile trip to get to are full of yachts. Little or no 35ft plus motorboats. Any largish motorboats that are out, tend to be going much slower e.g. circa 8 knots.

75p around these ere parts, going to use loads next week!
Weather depending of course!

Rob, are there visitors pontoons at Bury Port and is the entrance as awkward as it looks on me map of the sea?

I always fill up at Tarbert by the fishing boats,it is usually at least 20P per litre cheaper than the marinas charge on the Clyde. I filled up two weeks ago and it worked out with the 60/40 split at 0.71 per litre. It is only across the water from Portadvadie
