Garage diesel in Gibraltar today was 44 pence a litre! ... don't know what it was in the marina as I couldn't get there ... and if I had I doubt I'd have been able to park! I think Gib was full.

97.9ppl for road diesel at our local garage.

We paid 60ppl for red last weekend from the same garage as we needed some to top up the boat tank (Boat on the hardstanding so topping up isnt that easy). Thought that was probably a little steep given how much road diesel has come down in price.

36 ppl about right for a 1000l

Unfortunately we don't currently have room to install a diesel tank so we can't take advantage of bulk discounts :(

Have to make do with collecting 60 litres at a time, not a great quantity but our boat tank only holds 225 to put it in perspective :)

ah ok I am a tad lucky as we have tanks on our farm. Time to top up at these prices though.

I enquired about the non berth holder price of diesel at Premier Gosport the other day - £0.97p 60/40. This price has hardly changed since the middle of last year. Perhaps they're still selling fuel they bought at higher prices last year - I would hope prices will drop when they re-stock in the coming months but I won't hold my breath...

Presumably you told them it was for marine use so they could add the tax? :p
Can garages just sell red to anybody?

When we first bought from there we tried to tell them it was for a boat and got blank looks. Their only stipulation is if you buy more than 100 litres at a time there is a form to fill out. We can only get 60 litres in the boot of the car so have never had to fill any paperwork out.

We have been stopped by HMRC before whilst filling up the containers. They were happy with our explanation but did check my car over which is petrol!

As the boat is currently ashore we wouldn't be paying any added tax anyway as it is all for domestic purposes :)

ETA: The place we go is also a truck stop so the red is there for the lorries to fill their heating tanks.

Interesting I berth there but have not need to refuel since October. It was about that price then. They have a long way to come down. I suppose it depends how much fuel they have left in their tanks

Would you really want diesel in your tank that has been sat around in a marinas fuel tanks all summer and winter?

RCC 60/40 club price at the moment is 75p.It is a mixture of all the previous fill the tank prices to sort of smooth out the costs.
Price includes dose of fuel treatment.

not saying anything, I trust them to ensure that the fuel is good that goes into my tanks, that trust maybe misguided but its what I believe. but back to the point we do not know why the prices have not come down,

Not quiet like petrol.
Petrol has LPG added to the mix to help ignition during cold starting, but this evaporates from the rest of the mixture over time. This is the main reason it is difficult to start a petrol engine using old fuel.

They're ripping off non-berth holders, have been for a while. There's a gap of circa 10ppl between berth holder and non berth holder pricing. They seem to forget if all non berth holders bought fuel elsewhere, they'd sell a fraction of what they sell now!

Cowes harbour fuels 86p 60/40. Worth a trip over there if there's 11ppl difference.
