After a few frustrations with oil and water in diesel I asked the boat yard to fit a fuel polishing system. The problem is the tank is v shaped and the pick up for the fuel polishing is only slightly below the engine fuel pick up. at sea with a good shaking this may not be ideal. I am now several hundred miles away from the yard and whilst I think the correct thing is to get it all taken apart and a bit welded on the end I did wonder if I could get away with putting a bit diesel fuel line to extend by about 5 cm and get it right in the sump for polishing.
The diesel line would be constantly totally submerged in diesel and I wonder if the outside of the fuel line may be damaged and eventually fail and even contribute to problems with the fuel or whether the forum thinks this would be O.K.?

AS always thanks in advance for any help on this

If it is proper fuel hose, no problem. Many road vehicles have pumps in the tanks, connected with fuel hose, permanently submerged.
