Good on yer, a bit of common sense, red stuff in the wrong place is for plonkers, nothing shows a bodger up quicker than seeing the tell tale bit of red stuff peeking out from a joint where it shouldnt be!

Assuming you'r using new pipe and fittings, make sure it all goes together clean and don't overtighten with oversized spanners.
Old fittings are not advisable even if they look clean and they may be out of shape and have been stressed already.
