the C&E police checked cars in our boat yard for marine diesel, 2 C&E chaps one lady to take notes /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif, and a security guard /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
i guess we did not get the best of starts when i asked how much that lot costs & how much marine diesel they have found in cars.
any way they tried to syphon some out of my car, it has an anti syphon trap, when they failed, i asked them if they had done this sort of thing before, that did not improve their mood either. i forgot to point out the anti syphon trap.
they eventually left in a huff, jobs for the boys, they should be chasing ............
not my diesel car !

C&E checked all the vans at the Essex boat jumble last month for cherryade, heard them talking at the burger bar,did not find any.

Re: diesel inspection by C&E

It's all about the proposed ending of 'cheap' red diesel for boaters. Already the view of HMG is that we are a load of mega rich who are being subsidised in our chosen vice. If they can show that we are also pouring the stuff in the line of diesel Bentleys lined up in every boatyard it will be game set and match.

[/ QUOTE ]It's about increasing the GDP by employing more government servants. Disposable incomes are falling mainly as a result of a dramatic fallback in home mortgage equity withdrawal which has supported the economy to the tune of £15 billion a quarter (yes, billion) for the past couple of years and is now falling off sharply. The effect is a reduction in inflation and GDP to critical levels and we are heading for a severe recession (actually we have been in economic recession for a long time). By keeping government spending high, even by borrowing, the government can keep the GDP artificially high. For the short term, anyway.

You could, of course, have "helped them with their enquiries" by pointing out the anti-syphon trap thus saving them time and tax payers' money.

Re: diesel inspection by C&E

Checking for red deisel happens in lots of places - eg almost every car boot sale I've ever been to, agricultural shows etc. I don't think there's a need for boaties to feel singled out.

Hi
I agree when the next recession hits it is going to hurt, I have just liquidated all assets except two cars and a boat. I will either come out smelling of roses, or having to move from England. The way things are going the latter looks the better option

Much the same...one car and a boat. Leaving UK July. Not going non-resident, tho' but who knows, we could change our minds with just a few phone calls. Our boat is our home and can do a circumnavigation (not so sure about the crew, though /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif)

Res but not res

I was Resident but not Resident .... yep that is how it was written .... till EU hit the baltic's ..... now my status is in very grey area !!
