Diesel Heater smell

Sadler 290 no 41 here- same heater, same smell- I've finally resorted to ducting the intake back into the saloon as I thought it was just old kit in locker smells- I've also go an air freshener (neutradol) near the intake which has much reduced the problem. Perhaps its a combination of where the air is taken from and the rubber ducting? When I contacted Mikuni several years ago they were pretty unhelpful and just said it was a normal problem with a new heater "burning off a coating". On the plus side the boat warms up faster as the air now recirculates , I just leave the hatch cracked open to get fresh air in. Best, Mike.

When I installed my Eberspacher I used silicone hose for the ducting. It’s rated for the temperature. I’m pleased with how it works
