Forgetting the 60:40 fuel tax where in the Solent and Poole harbour the best prices for diesel. I know MDL used to sell at cost but that has changed. Others mention Yarmouth and Cowes. Experience please.

In Poole I think there's only a choice of 3 suppliers, Salters, MDL and the Town Quay. Last year I found the Town Quay to be the cheapest but its only (sometimes) manned on Fri, Sat and possibly Sunday. They have a card system at other times but I've never tried it but have seen people struggle to get it to work.
I haven't bought any this year so can't update you.

I think it’s expensive at Gosport marina but I was told bertholders get a discount . We have filled there on occasion as non bertholders but no 60/40 discount .
Maybe they didn't give the discount as they knew you didn't have diesel heating.

Maybe with card sales one cannot put in the % discount for red diesel.

Thanks for all the replies. It seems Cowes might be cheapest but need to buy in excess of 500 litres which for most does not happen. A full tank for us is 400 litres but I would never run till empty so maximum fill likely to be 300 litres.

On 500 litres that heating discount soon adds up I guess. I think it’s just the prepay machine at MDL does do heating discounts so they rip you off really . I guess Cowes is your best bet.

Update on certas energy pontoon in Poole (by Sunseeker). Applied for a card, as I don’t need the scare factor docking in Salterns (11m yacht, no bow thruster, very tight, lots of big gin palaces to damage. Nothing against the staff who are wonderful.) Contacts:

Forms to fill in attached.
You can use a bank card 0800-1800 Fri Sat Sun in the season. When it is manned. Fuel card accepted anytime and fuel is cheaper.

I used Cowes for fuel, and never heard of a 500l minimum. Great service there.

Cowes does not have a min, seen jet skies putting in 30 quid. They give discount on 500l and 1000l from memory. Pricing on the board for 60/40. Filled up last week
