OK, I now have my new filters. The one on the engine is the 522 cartridge type. Can anyone explain how the housing comes apart for me to change this cartridge.
Thanks....

I think on the top of the casting you will see a bolt head dead centre. This bolt fastens the lower glass bowl or metal housing to the top clamping the filter housing between the two. Undo the bolt and hold the lower bowl with your hand to stop it spinning and be prepared for fuel spillage as the two come apart. Dont forget to replace all gaskets and seals as supplied with new filter.

Cartridge filters are usually held in place by a centre bolt located at the top of the filter housing, BMC have two types of filter, canister/cartridge complete i.e filter housing and full aluminium casing (similar to an oil filter on some engines).
Or an element type filter which is sandwiched between two alloy halves, again a centre bolt fixing, always ensure that new seals are fitted when carrying out fuel filter replacement.
