Leaving the impeller in kerosene for 3 hours had no noticable effect on it. It was nice and slippy when I put it back in the pump housing too.
I still had difficulty priming it, I had to put it on the tap to flood it. It did pump better than I remembered when I got it going though.

They need to run at some 3000 rpm. I could not prime one running slower.

Many years have passed, but I faced the same problem last year. The information given was very useful for me. Today, more advanced systems are available. I solved this more easily than in those years.
