Diesel crystals

On changing our diesel filter/water separator I found long clear crystals underneath the glass bowl (between the glass and the base) no water and a little dirt. Does anyone know what the crystals are? I use red diesel with additives which I alternate between types so the pesky bugs don't get use to one type.

Different boat! I did do a search before posting and found nothing - should have looked at todays posts. At least I have more info now. Thanks all.
