Diesel Bug Treatment??

We had a nasty case of bug about two and a half years ago
Cleaned everything and used a shock dose of Marine 16 then regular dosage of Marine 16
Not a sign of the bug since.

AFAIK there are two schools of thought
1. dose with an additive that removes any water
2. dose with an additive that kills the bug (biocide)

Marine 16 is a biocide
I believe that Fuel Set is a type that removes the water so that the bug can't live.

+1 for marine 16 after years of soltron resulted in re infection (resistance developed?)

Interesting that it developed a resistance to Soltron will this apply to other additives at some point? I think its a case of doing everything as the dead bug needs removing or that will cause a problem if the additive dissolves the water into the diesel does this then cause the diesel to lose some of its lubricant properties and possibly cause damage this seems to be the case in couple of friends boats that have needed new pumps

I am very sceptical of any of the "enzyme" type bug treatments that dissolve water into the fuel.

If there is water in the fuel tank it needs removing not dissolving.

I would rather stick with the biocide types such as Grotamar 86
