Just curious really. Can you get diesel bug in Bio Diesel?
As it's veg based, does that make a difference?

Dunno never come across the stuff, will have to look into that one.

Ive never come across veg diesel, what is it, how much is it, where can you buy it, is it kind to engines, can you mix it?
 
There was a prog on radio 4 about it last week but I only caught a bit of it. Apparantly it's being made by a company in Yorkshire I think and it's a blend of vegetable oils plus ordinary diesel. A bit of the old chip fat recycling story. Apparantly the disposal of this stuff is a big problem for the catering industry, they have thousands of tons of old cooking fat to get rid of each year and one plan is to use in road vehicles. Some of the motor manufacturers say it's OK to use in their cars, others not. Being sold in a few garages mainly in the North at a few pence cheaper than road diesel 'cos good old Gordon still wants his cut out of it. Apparantly quite accepted technology in Europe, especially Germany from what I can remember from the short snippet I heard.

Yes widespread use in Germany and ? Denmark, I believe. It is made from rapeseed oil whiuch is processed and then mixed with a proportion of "normal" diesel to give the flow and waxing characteristics. Unlike the alcohol added to Brazilian petrol, I think it can be used just as normal and car companies anyway don't give a fig whilst under warranty.
With a slight tax favouritism it's economic and also green. After all, there is going to come a time (and it may be a long time away) when we will need to use oil for its irreplaceable uses rather than just its energy.
