The only one which works effectively is....

The only one which works effectively is Soltron. It doesn't just kill the bug, it breaks down the slimy residue which will block your fuel filter and stop your engine.

I have no problems with Soltron, and from all the comments, it is probably the best available, however the only one that is accepted by Eberspacher is "Fuel Set". which is supposed to do the same job, but possibly not as well. AFAIK, Soltron have also approached Eberspacher for an accreditation, but have not heard anymore.

I also have used soltron, but I did get blocked filters halfway thro' the season last year(hardly used the boat at all) not sure whats going to happen this year, the fuel is old now and I'm planning a trip soon. I'm taking plenty of spare filters......

If it were me I would a) add a double dose of Soltron now and b) change the filter now. That way you could see by the old filter if there is still a problem and at the same time be less likely to have a problem whilst you are away.

Re: soltron

On a biggish boat, i had fuel problems with a load of crud in the fuel blocking a primary filter. "Fuelset" seemed not to fix it, but later i cleaned all the filters, boshed in a load of Soltron, and haven't had any problems since. So, i supose it must have been okay.

Some times its a case of first come first served.

I am sure Gerry would be very happy to hear someone recommending his product.
