Anyone know this part of the coast? Coming from the south we stopped at Granville and then headed over to the CIs, so we missing this stretch. Was wondering whether to take Easter along here, or round the other side GrandCamp etc?
Only thing is the race is slightly the wrong time unless we get up very early.

Dielette is a bit limited for entertainment and shops, Carteret would be my choice if coming down that coast.

Have a look at digimap.gg/marinas for info.

Been to both, Dielette has a nice beach to the north, a couple of restaurants and a long walk uphill to a shop. And some cows on a very steep hill. And a nuclear power station that seems to always be under construction with attendant lorries passing by. The first pontoon on the left as you go over the cill is for visitors but I heard that was going to be made into resident berths with visitors on the pontoons in the inner harbour. Not had that confirmed.

Hated Carteret. Others disagree. If you happen to blag a residents pontoon it might be nicer but we were rafted up on the long visitors pontoon which included four fishing boats all being worked on ... hammering, grinding, engines being revved, smoke etc plus the view from that pontoon made us think that we were in a concrete submarine pen :nonchalance:

The town/village is quite pretty with some nice walks. Couldn't find a food shop ... think you have to walk around the head of the river to another town (?).

When going in keep as far over to port as possible ... big sand on starboard.

Maybe there is a reason I havent been to these places ;)
I'll end up rafting up 50 deep in SPP instead at this rate....
Digimap is very good link, thanks. Suggests there is dredging in Dielette meaning the visitors pontoon is missing.

I go to both but Crateret is my favourite, only 30 miles from Guernsey, a quiet marina well sheltered , a reasonable selection of restaurants, eight in Carteret and another half a dozen with a bit of a walk.

The main town 20 mins walk Barneville has a saturday morning market and nice beaches.
For gate times see http://www.barneville-carteret.fr/fr/port/ouverture_et_fermeture_de/default.asp

Also Digimap for general Info

I spend a lot of time in Carteret so i am biased as i love it.

I often spend a week there, you can hire a car from the yachtclub.

If you are intending to stay a couple of days say so when you arrive and are greeted by the harbour dory and ask if a finger ( catway in French ) is available and often you will get one offered.

Depending on your draft be careful in the approach channel on dead extreme neaps otherwise OK generally open 2.5 hours each side of HW.

Dielette is a nice harbour, a bit more slop with inlemant weather .

There are four restaurants near the Marina, the Portacabin one on the Quay allegedly serves the best moules Frites in Normandy.

Nearby small town of Flammanville has afew small shops and Chateau, walking around the grounds of the chateau is interesting and a nature walk opposite.

The main town Le Pieux a short taxi ride has a good selection of shops, supermarkets and four or five restaurants, the market day is Friday in les Pieux.

Both are well worth a visit .
