Did you order your superyacht yet?

We lived on our yacht a couple of pontoons down from the superyacht berth in Marina Bay, Gib. Nice sometimes to wander along for a look. Twice we were looked up by crew that we had taught and got a look round. Life on the other side,eh?

Antigua and St Maarten are other good places to see them rafted up. All that money and the bloke next door can peek in yer windows.

We sometimes joked about the superyacht owner sat there when a bigger one docks next door. And then an even bigger one with a helicopter. Pink walnut whip time?

Ah, well, we have our own crew ditties...
We have urban dictionary style names for the dayboats we regularly race against. ‘Diaphragm coming in on port, you know they wonkt have seen us’. ‘Genitalia are still overlapped, they need a ton of mark room unless you want to repaint’ are typical tactical remarks on our boat. Diatom, and Genista.

I did in fact order my superyacht....unfortunately the yard would not accept my Euromillions lottery ticket for next week as a deposit
I did say to them that when I do win ...I will take my business elsewhere. Sometimes you have to be harsh in business. Negotiations are ongoing

The thing I noticed is the female journalist managed to find one of a very small number of female boatyard owners and one of a very small number of female superyacht owners to write about. Is this the BBC doing a bit of their usual, but not so subtle gender equity promoting exercises?

This also ignores one of the fundamental rules of Naval Architecture, which states;

The enjoyment you can get from a sailing boat is in inverse proportion to its size.
I think I may have had more fun (certainly more ‘situations’) when I started out in learning to sail in a dinghy, to racing dinghies, to simply sitting at anchor in a dinghy in a creek.

Sometimes I wonder if moving up to cruisers was or has been a mistake. More expense, work and time and often less sailing.

I have read the article and simply cannot imagine being in the situation of having so much money to spend upon a boat.

The talk about fine dining at any point in time and at any place at sea just points out how different the lady is to me.

Good for her. But beyond my wildest imagination.
If the article and this forum are to be believed.....the money is in law....not medicine

Tirfirò and Partners is the firm.

When I did some research on patent litigation a good few years ago, there was talk of the 'Italian Torpedo'. The general idea is that the first location where an action takes place usually is where the rest of the issues are handled. If you thought you might be sued by X in London (and were on dodgy legal ground) then you would try to find a means to bring a related action against X in Italy. The legal issues would then be handled in Italy rather than London. The 'Italian Torpedo' was the act of sinking the litigation - the Italian courts were so slow that it would be years and years before any decision.
