Went down to check if 'Tia' was OK yesterday and saddened to find that someone has hit and destroyed the lifebuoy / light bracket on the pushpit, it must have been quite a blow as the heavy gauge aluminium is completely twisted. Luckily we took the light and buoy off when we left her two weeks ago or no doubt they would be damaged as well.

I would assume that whoever did this must have been aware and we would appreciate at least a PM, the damage is probably no more that £30 or so but the hassle is in finding replacement parts.

I must say the marina has been fantastic and are bending over backwards to help fix it before we take her out again (Clacton airshow weather permitting).

Thanks. As I said we're positively blown away by the attitude of Tollesbury Marina, I can't imagine many other's offering such assistance for what is, after all, very minor damage.

What's so saddening is that someone can do this and not even leave a note or report it to the Marina.

We were hit whilst on our pontoon three times last year. The first confessed and arranged for paintwork to be repaired asap. The third was a dinghy that t-boned us and popped back to check the damage. Both good. The second was an old guy from the neighbouring yacht club who managed scrape down our side when turning and didn't even know he had hit us. He soon knew when SWMBO nabbed him when he came back in his tender. Unbelievable. .If you are incapable of telling whether you have hit another boat, something is pretty wrong.

Familiar ring. Can sympathise.

Got wellied by passing boat on mooring. Bent the stern rail and wrecked the life raft casing. Fortunately perp got grassed up by some people working on the river at the time. His reaction was along the lines 'it was only a passing blow, didn't think it was that bad'

Resulting claim was for a new life raft case, life raft re pack and a lift out and repairs to the stern rails. The freight for the life raft shipping was a serious amount. Several zeroes in the end.

Worst of all, we were left to sort out the repairs and deal with the perpetrator who insisted we were on the make.

Annoying isn't it. We've acquired a scrape on the paintwork near the starboard bow that could only have happened whilst she was on her mooring

It's not a big issue but it's only a few weeks since I touched up all thec dodgy bits and gave her a polish :@
