Did anyone brave the freezing cold weather and venture to Shotley? Me and Ian stayed put in Ipswich Haven Marina and enjoyed our home made spag bol and bottle of fizz. Far too cold to venture into The Orwell and on to Shotley. Happy New Year everyone.

I was sorry we didn't make it. had the weather been half decent then Sheila was even up for sailing there but in the end the freezing weather and an invitation elsewhere was too much to resist.

I trust you all had a good time.

I expect he will 'fess all in due course.

Looking forward to 2010. tee hee. Once again my boat is in the water and today I read in the paper that they expect the coldest winter for a century :(

I have recovered and moved FC to the winter berth, with Mr Artemis as crew.
We cocked up the tide, a bit, and it was running iout strongly by the time we got to Rochford.
We had a wonderful New Years Eve.

Singalong to the Sound of Music, gaily dressed cockpit tent on Morgana, my 10 litre box of Merlot, the bunny game in the Shipwreck, the champers and fireworks at midnight and my tiddly sparklers.
It snowed at 12:02, as was recorded on my fireworks video by an Irish voice in the background.

The snow wasnt unexpected and was a light haily dusting, but Neils prodigious breakfast skills and advanced smoke generation device worked like clockwork.

Thanks to all for making it so special.

One particular forumite is still there! (i'll leave them to explain!)

Guilty as charged m'lud. After many visits to Shotley, every one of them enjoyable, and after taking the many many many factors into account, we decided to have (yet) another chat with the office re a permanent berth. They had one (several in fact), we had quite literally just finished the year at Bradwell, so decided to sign up for a permanent berth at Shotley. The logistics were made easy by the fact that we bumped into George Jepps who had just come back from his New Years Day sail and who also resides at Shotley, who was quite happy to take us back to Bradwell to collect the car. After driving back to Bradwell we had a celebratory ginormous meal in the Bristol Arms followed by a bottle of champers once tucked up in bed. So there we go, E29 until the end of March then E31 permanent.

And yes, we did sail up from Bradwell on new Year's eve. I quite enjoyed it. Tanya certainly didn't. Enough said, but what a great evening it was.

Sounds like you all had a good time. We enjoyed our quiet meal for two. I must admit I haven't felt much like partying this year. My dad died in July and my sister died on Christmas day aged just 59, after a very short illness. :(

Yes it was a good evening and Harwich Pyrotechnics did not disappoint as usual.

Sorry we did not cross paths

I did note a strange Blue glow emanating further down the marina.........
