Dickies gone pop

Dickies seem to still be around, just having closed three of its dealerships.
No I have just had it confirmed. They have gone under and are now operating under a new company name. Apparently this is a legal and normal way of not paying your bills. How nice of them!! I look forward to seeing them at Southampton.

Is it really necessary to start four separate threads about this?

Cheers
Jimmy

Probably not but this was my first time here. I was not sure where to get hold of any info. Also each time I tried to post it did not appear and then all appeared at once! It has been most helpful though. I am not sure why I have not used it before.

He is a small business who now realises that he is not going to be paid for goods he has supplied. (I presume)

Some folks in this situation run around desperately hoping other people can be of assistance.

After a few days they calm down and realise that the money is lost.

BUT, yes I agree that multiple posting of threads is very annoying and will not endear him to other forum members.

Like me Jimmy no doubt you have been on the receiving end of bad debts and have had to grin and bear it.

Thats business.

Er, if this is true, its a very common. Personally I dislike the idea but its perfectly possible for a business to go bust one day and for the directors/owners of that business to buy the remaining assets from the administrator the following day and restart operations under a similar name as if nothing had happened. In fact, some accountancy firms now offer to plan the whole process for you under what they call a prepack administration which I find particularly distasteful. And yes it is very likely that trade creditors and customers get left high and dry in this process
Having said this, do we actually have any confirmation that this has happened rather than just some routine office closures?

You presume correctly. As I mentioned on a previous post I did not mean to post all these threads and if it annoys other users I apologise. Of course I have been knocked for money before and I am fully aware that as the company is in administration I have zero chance of recovering it. The reason I was trying to find out what is going on is because I have been unable to get a sensible answer from Dickies themselves and I was hoping a forum like this would have some people that may know something further. I am fully aware that is just business but it does not mean I have to like it and it does not mean I should not try and make enquiries.

This harps back to a point I and others have made before. When selling your boat on brokerage , get the buyer to transfer the net of commission sale proceeds
directly to the seller. Just in case -----.

Many years of experience in business have taught me that if you are providing local services to a company, that goes bust you are nearly always better off keeping on good terms with both the Phoenix company and any ex employees as they will be around still running businesses locally and you usually profit from that business in the future (and often manage to recover some of the owed money in other ways in the future).

Falling out with everyone guarantees you will not get any future business from them. And in any case, falling out with them, ranting and wailing will not get your money back!

The office local to me is one of the ones they closed so no future business. Ranting and wailing will not get my money back but it might make me feel better for 30 seconds or so!
