Has anyone sailed or know much about the Koopmans series, notably the aluminium centreboard ones?

Many thanks in advance!

The original owner of my current boat has an aluminium centreboard Koopmans. He had it built in order to do high latitude sailing. Maiden trip was to Spitsbergen, that kind of sailing.
He is quite pleased with his boat as it serves him well for his purpose, but he always adds that from a point of view of pure sailing pleasure, the Starlight is far more rewarding.
Horses for courses, really.

I own an Arpege which was originally owned by Dick Koopmans. At least I think it was owned by Dick Koopmans as his name is on the original bill of sale, I bought the boat in Lelystadt and the guy who sold it to me (in Lelystadt) told me the previous owner owned a boatyard.

Your post was timely because I will be heading up to Denmark in a couple of weeks and will be passing Lelystadt - going inland from IJMuiden to Leuwaarden for a bit of R&R in Amsterdam for SWMBO and sprog.

Just found the Koopmans website so might try and take contact... thanks for the post and sorry for the drift.

Great designer. He engineered the scantlings for a new boat I'm building and he is a pleasure to work with and knows his stuff. He faired the boat for me and it's right on the money. Read his web site and look at his sailing experience too - that's who you want designing an offshore boat!
