I read recently that in September the frequencies used by the land based DGPS stations were changed.

I currently have a Simrad CA42 Chartplotter with DGPS. Will this sytem automatically seek out the new DGPS frequencies or do I need to re-programme the unit, If so how?

I have the Garmin 215 which has an option under the set up for either manual or automatic settings for the beacons - I suspect you have the same.
Also, if the unit can't find a DGPS signal it tell sme - so I would suspect yours would do so to; and therefore if it hasn't you needen't worry!
Finally you probably have an indicator of current accuracy - again if that goes up over the 10ft mark you have probably lost your beacon!
However, I am reasonably sure mine is manually set and that it has not changed this year - I know I have a signal 'cos another unit takes the NWEA feed and it tells me that it has a position siugnal and a correstion signal. However I willl check this weekend whether I am on manual or automatic beacon selection.
