I had Treble C out of the water last summer to have the cutlass bearing replaced.

Now she is out of the water for usual winter maintenance and I have noticed the absence of the anode on the prop shaft - It was there last spring! Presumably removed and not replaced or replaced loose so it fell off at new bearing time.

The prop has some wildlife on it and when I remove this the metal has pink patches under the barnacles etc.

I am assuming this is because of the lack of anode. Obviously I'll be fitting a new anode, but how much do I need to worry about the prop? Are a few pink spots OK or am I getting paranoid - if I ignore it, what's the worst that can happen?

I look forward to your views....

If the pink patches are only on the surface then no problems. If you can dig soft copper out or break bits off the blades then not so good.
Lots of info on Vyv Cox's website

When fitting shaft anodes do the bolts up tight.
Hold something very heavy against one half whack the other half with a decent sized hammer to bed the anode halves onto the shaft
Retighten the bolts
