Can anyone put my mind at rest and explain what position my seacock should be in before I set off in the spring.

I am new to boating, but fairly savvy when it comes to engines.

My boat has just been winterised and antifreeze is in the motor, so what do I need to do to ensure the engine is cooled correctly,

Regards

Mark

Are you sure you have an engine seacock? Outdrive powered boats don't usually. It could be a toilet seacock. Anyway, if it is engine related it should be open, lever in line with hose, assuming hose comes straight off the top.

Hello Neale,
The seacock in question is located in the centre of the boat and suspect it is for the toilet as you say.

Can you advise how I should manage this system

Regards Mark

On my sports cruiser, I used to shut the cock when away from the boat, and leave open when on board. If you have a big V8 gasoline engine, then as soon as you start up, the system will fill with raw water, as they tend not to have sealed coolant systems.
