Recently I found a beautiful gaffer for sale (by Wooden Ships) that was designed by Percy Dalton, and built 1980. I would very much appreciate any ideas as to where I can access his designs - any clues?

Percy Dalton was responsible for many of the Falmouth Working Boats, from which the moulds were taken to make the GRP versions made by Martin Heard at Gaffers and Luggers in Mylor, Cornwall.

I'm sure that CB did a review of his life and work some time back, but I don't have the issue info available - maybe Dan H. does. That may contain further references, or referral to the author - probably John Leather - may be fruitful.

I found a reference to the boat in a recent issue (July's I think although I don't have with me) - we are a few month's off the pace here in good old NZ. The boat's name is Chloe May and they had a reference to CB 112. I don't have the index and they haven't got any old copies of that in stock - what is the CB photocopying service like? i.e. obviously I don't have the name of the article, would they be able to work it out?
Time zones don't work that well for business calls otherwise I'd call them, and they do not list an email address for that department. I spent hours trying all sorts of avenues the other night....

Yes, they did a review of his work about two years ago.
Also, as he did a lot of work in Falmouth, and a lot of his boats are still there, try contacting the Falmouth maritime museum. You'll have to get the number from directory inquiries as I've only got their old one, but the museum staff are always very helpfull.

Hi, I did a Google search for my wife's grandfather and lo and behold find a thread (albeit an old thread) in classic boats. As a family we are trying to revive Percy's boat designs, many of which have not been bettered in the years since he passed away. Thought I would sign up here to gauge if there is any interest.

Falmouth Bookshop has copies at the moment.
This lists all, or most of his boats built in Falmouth, were they are and who built them.
Question from the wife, did you once jump through the Mylor workboat floor ??
