Depth, trans and afoul?

Was reading the manual for my Nasa clipper depth, says not to antifoul hull below transducer.
Does that mean just one meal worth of barnicals in a small round area of the hull at the end of the season, or do our forumites just AF below theirs?

I run my NASA Clipper sounder with the old Seafarer transducer which had years of antifouling over it and had no problems - I'm pleased to say. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Although unlikely the transducer companies can not guarantee that the chemicals in the antifoul will not disolve the plastics in the transducer. It is more there for the purpose of a disclaimer than any other reason.

I have used both NASA and Raymarine transducers in in-hull mounts and have always antifouled the hull underneath them with no apparent ill-effect on sensitivity. I would not AF a transducer if it were fitted through-hull, though.
