Hi,
I bought a used Navman 3100 depth sounder. I want to connect it up to the battery but I have a problem figuring out the wiring . There is a red wire which should be the live but no black one as my negitive. According to the manual. There should be a black wire but as you see in the photo, plenty of different colour wires but no black. Has anyone had any experience with this?

On a sonar unit (IIRC), it's quite usual to have the power return (your black) on what could be construed as the signal shield (your bare wire).
This might be the case with yours, but I'm not acquainted with this piece of kit.

On this diagram there's no mention of a bare wire.

Thankyou for your input. If i had to make a guess i would go for the uncovered wire as my black as you suggested. I am replacing my older Navman sounder with this one. Its almost identical except it has just 3 wires, red, black, yellow. The former owner does not remember where the wires went unfortunately.

Welcome, by the way! I must correct my post #2; they weren't sonar units that were connected, but camera's where the 0V was the also the coax shield.
I hope that it works, and do let us know.
