Depth Sounder sticking

I have an old B&G Focus Depth Sounder / Log and have a problem that it works fine when initially switch on but then intermittently gets stuck on a reading -- ie. its showing 4.5 and stops updating - it will continue doing this until turned off and on again.

Any ideas of what might be the cause ?

Any ideas of what might be the cause ?

Next time it stops get an ear close to the transducer and listen for a clicking noise, no click no work.

Check ALL the connections or run a temporary cable to test.
