some, but is the way most do it over here. clean up a flat surface, epoxy or silicone it to the hull. NO air bubbles! and no metal on outside of hull. if you can put about 1-2 inches of water in the area you want to mount, you can test it as long as your boat is in the water, just set transducer in the water and it should read. if bottom is angled too much, a 'dam/well' is made using 4/6" plastic pipe, bonded to the hull at angle to make verticle, with transducer mounted in a cap and well filled with water, cooking oil, etcand assembled.

I posted a similar question sometime ago after investigating why mine wasn't working ........ and a bilge full of castor oil (YUK!) I siliconed mine to the hull (less permenant than fibre glass or epoxy) and it works just fine

Trying to find the best place for the transducer on my Parker 21, I just stuck a wodge of Blutak on the bottom of the transducer and stuck it in various places till I got the best-looking echo. It's still there - blutak and all! - and works fine.

posted my reply in the 'For Sale' forum. You don't need to post the same question multiple times in different sections, just once is fine unless you don't receive any reponses.
