Does anyone know if it's possible to fit a new depth and log display unit to and already installed paddle wheel and transducer?
I have an old Bi-data depth and log that only reads feet and inches and is none too trustworthy, I'd like to fit a new Nasa Duet display unit without changing the "through hull" transducer etc .

Chances are very good. Most of these transducers originate from Airmar. The most standard resonance for the sounder is 200kHz. If it's same frequency it will work if not, then not at all. Most paddlewheels have two magnets to be balanced and give two pulses per rotation. Diameter can be different for differnt size fittings, but that is usually within the adjustment range of the instrument.

I replaced my nke instruments with the duet which works fine on the original wheel and sounder. Despite what the instructions say it is OK to cut the cable to join the senders up, I checked with Nasa.

I would call Nasa. They seem pretty helpful on these things. I do know that the old rotary type depth meters had a 150 Hz transponder and that this was the same as the the NASA duet. I have used the Nasa in hul kit for my depth through plastic and it was easy to put in and works fine. Also the NAsa speed needs a 42 mm hole which is ssmall compared with VDO and some others that seem to need a 50 mm hull hole.

Hope this helps!
