many thanks appreciate the advice
Had only got to the £10k number when looking at kad 32s online that were around £5k ish
Agree it wouldnt be economical but it would at least be a backup
I think you are looking at this the wrong way round .
The boat will be bought for say £10k.
Just get an engine survey, if they are good great, bad then walk.
Lets say that you can buy 2 engines for £5k ( i would be surprised if at that price they are any better than is in there).
Then to have them removed, all accessories stripped, out on new engines, and installed - what £5k labour and assorted parts that break when being taken off / need replacement ?
So at the most optimistic £15k. 150% of the boats cost.
Value when done ... not much more than you paid for it - if indeed anything ... the engines wont be new they will just be a different set of second hand lumps.
Don't get rose tinted spectacles. it is an old old boat and could run up huge bills if it is a dud.
If you have £25k then spend that on a better boat.
Just my view
