Departure procedures for leaving Italy to Croatia

I've just given the carabinieri at San Giorgio a call: they're perfectly clued up re the crew list! However, they advise sending the request by email a few days before, then you can collect on the day. Unfortunately, they guy on the phone couldn't tell me what the email is as the person responsible wasn't there; I have to call back. Watch this space!
And yes Trieste Airport station is now operative, hurray!

ok, here we are: this is the email to which you should send this form, duly filled in, and with copies of each person's passport: Maurizio.Berlingieri@carabinieri.it
Note, this is ONLY for the San Giorgio di Nogaro Carabinieri, although I'm sure the form is the same for all. Send a few days prior, if possible, and collect on the day of departure.

Metabarca - I cannot thank you enough, that is most kind of you to go to all that trouble.
I owe you a glass or two of the delightful Friuli red. If you're in the area 6thMay or 17th May and would like to meet up drop me a message.
Thanks Again
Paul

Can I get the team's advice for coming from Corfu to Italy and then going from Italy to Croatia
We plan to arrive at Otranto. Then we'll hop up the coast to leave from Vieste heading for Croatia. I am aware of the rules about checking into Croatia at the first available port

Are you saying that I will need to check in at Otranto and then check out at Vieste to keep the Croatians happy?

Thanks

It's only the exit from Italy that is important to the Croatians. What you do upon arriving in Italy or whilst on passage in Italy is purely of interest to the Italians ..... and they're not interested at all. :)

On another matter , have the new higher charges been brought in ? I heard that they haven't or is that just wishful thinking ?

I believe that the increases were implemented but from the 1st April 2018 rather than the 1st January as originally intended. I'll know definitely in a couple of weeks time when I'm back on the boat although I'm fortunate in that it won't affect me until May 2019.

Well I'm back from our first cruise of the season, and exiting Italy was very simple in the end. I took the form Metabarca posted, completed it, and as luck would have it when I was about to leave the Carabinieri were actually visiting the Marina, (he Marina had called them the day before to say we were leaving so maybe that was why they were there) so I was able to get my crew list endorsed by them. Entered Croatia at Umag using the Marina office. The Police were very grumpy but did the necessary stamps and pretty much told us to get lost. Too late for Harbourmaster so did that next day and the woman in the office couldn't have been more helpful. The new Sojourn fees now apply, but as we are only doing disjointed weeks over the season she suggested we just pay each time we use the boat, so sold us a permit for only 2 weeks, whereas I had been braced for paying for the whole year, as I plan to have the boat in Croatian waters until October. So I would strongly recommend using this office.
