I was interested in the recent idea about chartering a boat from Denia and sailing the Costa Blanca. Also we are thinking of buying a boat and mooring it in Spain. This way we get to sail in the sun.
Does anyone have a contact or two for charter.
Any advise on buying or mooring in Spain.

Any comments welcome.

The Costa Blanca is dire - endless plastic covered fields, nasty seas and very changeable and extreme winds, either blowing a hooley or dead calm.
Your best bet for chartering on that coast is probably Almerimar - whilst I was there I saw three different charter companies' boats.
Suggest you contact the marina operator - a number of the marineros speak English.
As regards moorings the best bet is Mestre Tomas in Mar Menor, most of the other marinas are fully booked - however possession being 9/10ths, you're reasonably likely to get a mooring if you're there, whilst trying from afar tends to be a waste of time and enrgy.

Contact persons Bernt Schwinger or Rafael Devesa, charter Bavarias (they are the Bavaria agents for this region). I own a Bavaria I bought from them and can recommend them as reliable and professional.

Mooring a boat in Denia presents no problems. Denia has just enlarged its Marina and there are berths available for daily, monthly or yearly rent. The other marinas in the area are quite full and you may not be able to get a berth in high season (June through September). Cost in Denia for my Bavaria 36 is abt. 4600.- Euros per year. The marina is clean, safe and highly recommendable. Address: Marina de Denia, Darsena de Babor, Puerto de Denia, E-03700 Denia, Spain. Are you sure that is the Costa Blanca, I thought that was well east of the area you mention, Perhaps its the Costa Del Sol
I spent several years In Calpe which I think is on the Costa Blanca as is Benidorme and Alicante, Its a great sailing area with short passages to Ibiza , Forenteria, Menorca etc and the weather is great.

I sail from Denia which certainly is on the Costa Blanca. North of Denia there are few attractions for the boater as the area boasts miles of great beaches but few marinas which can take boats with more than 6 ft draft. South of Denia offers good sailing, numerous marinas and a few anchoring places. It is rather crowded in July and August but fine the rest of the year. And then there are the islands, again better avoided July / August but really great in spring and fall. Try it!
