Demand for moorings plummeting?

TSB240,

would a marina residents association ( if there isn't one, set one up ) tolerate an increase in fees if it could be promised - unlikely word with a council I know - the extra dosh WOULD go into maintenance ?

I'm thinking of something reasonable like 10 %, though I don't know what your fees are.

Just struck me as an interesting hypothesis.

Come on Andy get real.
Would you pay 10% more for your half tide mud berth on the vague promise that it might be possible to get into and out of it at other than high tide some time in the future.

If you are a regular deep draft boat user or visitor you would have voted with your feet years ago! It does leave plenty of space for floating caravans that never move and don't use fuel and enjoy an attractive electricity tariff.....

I would suggest any well run business keen to retain loyal custom, full marina or mooring berths and regular visitors should be offering a significant reduction until dredging to design depths has been completed.
I voted with my feet from Pwllheli. I would love a practical berth in Caernarfon for any of our club boats to use and help us keep a small boat to use to train older newbies.

I am happy looking directly down on my own boat in my home marina which is currently a much better customer offering just 5 miles away.

The only trouble is the new owners have seen the opportunity to raise monthly berthing fees by considerably more than inflation. Demand is currently higher because of the situation 5 miles away!

We have a berth holders meeting on Saturday!

I said ' IF the money was definitely going to maintenance '.

So the answer is no, you wouldn't be prepared to help invest in the place even a small amount and do expect the council to do it all ad infinitum; as others have mentioned, maybe that's the part that needs to ' get real '.
