It was already raining when I got the call, “We’re going.”

I grabbed a coat and hat and made my way down to the lock, where my ride was waiting.

Brilliant, I was going to spend Monday afternoon helping to deliver Discovery to Liverpool to have a diving lift fitted and a few other creature comforts for the paying diving, fishing and wildlife watching public.

We were just waiting on the tide and were determined to get going the moment there was enough water beyond the lock gates.

The skipper was Gary and the chief navigation office his son, Daz who are known locally as The Scousers, even though they claim to be from the Wirral. Whatever!

Gary the skipper.

The water drops as the rain filled dock tries to keep it filled up.

Final systems check.

And off we go, with the launch party seeing us of before they get into the car and race to Liverpool to become the welcoming party.

Out into the Strait at 13.55

And once out of the 5 knot speed limit, Gary floors the pedal.

Through the Swellies with kayaks playing in the tide.

Starboard engine running well.

Out of the Swellies and leaving the suspension bridge behind.

Puffin Island already.

Open sea with Liverpool somewhere ahead.

Daz, has a drive.
4812721679_b238187de6_z.jpg

When he had finished, I took over and we immediately hit 3 metre seas. Our speed never dropped below 15 knots and we just kept going.

The rain continued.

But the bulbous noses cut the water nicely.

The first of three wind farms pass to our starboard.

And the sun shines over our departure point.

Suddenly, there was a commotion on the water ahead of us.........

The Wirral, Eh? The Debtor's Retreat, all Fur Coat & no Knickers?

Nice pics, pity about the weather. Looks a nice boat, the twin wakes seem to reduce the wash somewhat. Looking forward to the next bit, Point of Aire, Hilbre, The Bar, New Brighton, the ferries, the 3 Graces & the docks.

Thanks Major, interesting looking boat, alloy I presume? Appears quite new, any idea about machinery?
Its always hard to capture the true mood of the sea with a still shot pic.

Poor show re those wake shots Major - you will have to do better than that.
No body is going to complain that you have spilt their beer or give you the classic two fingers with such miserable efforts.
But then, you were in a very efficient (semi?) displacement power cat, hence I guess it was pretty much impossible to make a wake that a Nelson would be proud of! :)

It is a Blyth Workcat, made in fibre glass and fitted with twin Perkins. She is fitted out very well electronically, including sat phone.

She is being fitted with a powered diver's lift, new radar and a stainless steel bench with bottle racks.

The owners have the option to later add a generator and even accommodation in the hulls!

They have put up a website, which explains more. The website is still under development.

Supper pics Major.
Just to add to Searush'es photo shoots how about pics of Spud, Mash and Potato, or are you going in at Q5.
O and you are such a sloppy crew member all those un-stowed air bags still tied to the Sissy rails lying in the scuppers.:D:D:D
