my dehumidifier has suddenly stopped producing "water" . It's a bog standard domestic type from Argos . Is it a DIY product and worth getting the screwdrivers out or just bin it ?

Has it given up or has it just turned too cold? Domestic ones often don't have a defrost facility and once the ambient temperature drops below about 8 degrees or so, they just frost up and stop extracting water. Try switching it off for an hour or two to defrost and then use a heater to get the ambient temperature up over 10 degrees before switching it on again and see if it extracts waster again. If it is knackered, I don't think there is much in the way of serviceable parts inside.

Thanks for your suggestions of help .will give it a try before I consign it to the skip . Cheers

have a look at the innards, and see if there is a gas charging valve (usually about 8mm with a plastic cap. It may be that the refrigerant has escaped (not unknown).

Mine has done the same, much below 7degc it doesn't work anymore. Keep the faith and I think you will find it comes alive when the boat warms up a fraction...
