deflating Plastimo inflatable dinghy

I have no instructions for my Plastimo dinghy. Pumping it up is brilliant with the footpump, but when I switch to the deflate valve on the footpump it takes for ever to suck air out, slowly sucking air before I can squash the bellows to expel the air. Is there a quick air release method? (No bad jokes about knives, rocks and cigarettes please!)
 
Sorry shipmates - just worked it out. You unscrew the valve and lay on it. Why when I moved from power to sail did I think all I had to do was to learn to pull ropes?

G'day Bob44,

And
repair the engine
service the engine
do the cooking and cleaning
replace dicky cables
navigate
stock the drinks locker
climb the mast to change a globe
empty the holding tank
unblock the loo
set the anchor
check the oil, water and fuel, battery, life jackets.
lift the anchor
post to YBW so you can answer your own questions
service the winches
apply the antifoul after scrubbing the old lot off
apply a bit of paint and varnish
do the odd fibreglassing project
did we mention pull a string or two

It must be good to lay on the rubber duck at the end of the day.

The valve is in two parts. As previously said, you unscrew the cover then unscrew the valve. Then if you insert the pump, but on 'out' not 'in' ,you can suck the air out.
 
Don't know about the Plastimo valves but on all three of my dinghies, Lifeguard, Bombard and now Maxxon, if you depress the valve and give it a quarter turn it will lock in the open position. Makes life easier when inflating too. Just lock the valve until compartments are almost full, lock and top up to pressure.
