Some of the responses to the current thread on which way round the Isle of Wight for a passage from Marchwood to Caen has got me thinking: what is the definition of an 'efficient passage'?
Is it the fastest, or the most comfortable? The most scenic or the least wet? One that reduces crew anxiety or maximises drinking-time at the other end? One that avoids the use of the engine, or one that relies on it precisely to keep up to planned passage speed?
