The time has come to change boats, and consequently Deep Joy is now on brokerage. I dont think the forum rules allow me to post a link, but you can find the ad on the Network Yacht Brokers web site for Swansea.

Vicky and I have just looked through the pics and watched the videos with a lump in our throats. I will be very sorry to see the boat go, but the prospect of a new boat beckons which will be very exciting.

Hi Graham, the reason for the link not working is that she has sold and is already in her new home in the NE of England! It all happened in a bit of a blur - one minute I was clearing stuff off the boat and getting it ready for photos, the next I was signing bills of sale. Hardly had time to say goodbye properly.

Good news then. Have you started looking again?

Yes, I have bought a Jeanneau 379 lift keel, after much looking and thinking. I was originally going to go for a 33i lift keel, but my wife convinced me that the 379 would be a better option!

So even deeper joy but with a shallow draught capability :-) Wishing you many happy voyages in your new pride and joy.

@Graham. Thanks - I'm really looking forward to being able to take the ground - Combe, Watermouth, Tenby, Saundersfoot all beckon. Not sure what the name will be though - I definitely won't be choosing Deeper Joy or Deep Joy II!

@Single. Not yet Andy - boat will be built in Jan/Feb and commissioned in Swansea in March. Time seems to be passing slowly at the moment...

There must be some brochure pics:confused:

OK if you insist, nabbed from the Jeanneau website.

Thanks both for your kind comments. I really wanted a lift keel, and any kind of Southerly was bonkers money, so the 379 really ticks all the boxes.

I'm a bit concerned about how easy the boat will be to manoeuvre in the marina, having been used to a fin keel and a spade rudder, but we'll see how it goes. I may come to regret not specifying a bow thruster, but we can always retrofit if necessary.

Sneds, you will be more than welcome to come out for a test drive once the boat is in the water.

Andy, actually there is a locker accessed from the heads which is huge, and fitted out with some shelves for tools and other paraphernalia, along with a cockpit locker for the dink and a stern locker for the fenders. There is a dedicated liferaft stowage locker under the cockpit floor by the swim platform. Below is a link to a Youtube walk through, which shows it all.

Thanks Bert, I will be sure to let you know when I come over to Combe.

Re the boat name, the coastguard seemed to have real trouble with Deep Joy, and I want something a bit more obvious and shorter. So ideally a boat name one word with two syllables and fairly short (sounds like I'm playing charades). Right now, Anwen is my preferred option which of course means very beautiful or fair in Welsh. Alternatively, Vicky likes Arwen, who of course was Aragorn's bit of skirt in Lord of the Rings.

Any and all suggestions along these lines are welcome.
