Hi All,

A few months back I had asked on the best method of attaching a pulley to the backstay to be used for the passarelle uphaul.

I currently have the mast down for re-rigging and I was thinking of fitting a length of 6mm stainless cable from the mast head dedicated for the passarelle about 4m short of the backstay length.

This can be easily attached at the top and seems to be an ideal solution as it will not disturb the backstay.

What do you think, apart from the little extra weight at the top are there any issues I should be concerned about?

Thanks for the pointers.

Leach should be ok as it will be very much in parallel with the backstay.

Lateral stability will be negligible but there are 2 side stays for that.

I guess it will need to be constantly under tension to avoid tangling.

Dyneema would be better, but I happen to have a few 6mm shrouds from a previous boat which are just the right length :)

A free hanging attachment for a topping lift like this will leave the pasarelle free to swing around and do damage to itself or other stuff. You will need guys to the quarters as well to make it secure.
