deck shoes decent makes

I have had many pairs over the years and with the use mine get I have found that M&S do a good pair which I use every day. £45! They work fine in most situations and have the same type of sole as some of the more expensive pairs I've had. They also do a slip on which is great when you have to keep going in and out of saloons!

Deck Shoes

Quayside for me - because I am too mean to pay any more and ruin them regularly! SWMBO wears Chathams. Both work well.

I have had quayside in the past but last pair are sebago and really fit nice feel and look great, they were around the £100 mark retail but slightly reduced in the chandlery opposite the spinnaker . I the recycle my quayside ones into work shoes so they get trashed with oily bilges etc. I do wonder why deck shoes are the price they are compared to normal daily wear shoes.

Other than of course it's marine related! Yes that old chestnut.

I bought 2 pairs of black work shoes from M&S last October for about £50 each. By April, both were showing signs of wear. Bought a pair of Loake from Debenhams for £110, and they feel like they will last longer than me!

I'm wearing some Timberland boots that I bought about ten years ago... Can't remember the price, but not cheap! They will also outlast me!

I suspect you get what you pay for, in general, and around £100 seems the going rate for good deck shoes.

well there are plenty of makes there for me to look at

i must say i enjoy wearing my adidas trainers they are non marking soles and comfy but if i wear my tracky bottoms at the same time i am worried i might lower the tone at swanwick :D

One of the main criteria for me is a correctly shaped sole and supportive heal, because I suffer from Achilles tendonitis - its the result of having a fat body and long skinny legs.

I wont buy another pair of Dubarry's, Clarks or Quayside. Currently into a pair of Henry Lloyds and finding them very comfortable indeed.

I bought some of these and have used them regularly. The only problem is that they squeak excessivly loudly on laminate flooring with is a little embarrassing. I never listened to my mum when she said "pick your feet up". The colour is not as good as a pair of Seabago's.

As recommended by a few chaps earlier, and 'cos I can't find my beloved Teva Pelicans anywhere, I bought a pair of the Clarkes Orson Slate shoes on Tuesday evening. Worn them constantly since and so far they're pretty good. A tad tight width wise for the first couple of hours but I guess they stretched and moulding themselves to my feet and they feel OK now

£80 and although I quoted the discount code Betterm that Biggles recommended, the girlie looked at me as if I was off another planet and said I had to print it out and bring it in before she could do anything but hadn't heard of that code.

Still, the shoes seem OK so far so thanks for the tip.

Ah-the code is for their online store, I should have said. It can be used though to order for collection in store.

Thanks for that Biggles, and checked their website a little while ago and it takes a bit of digging but I found the discount offer. It says it's either on-line or print off the voucher and take it to the shop.

So being a cheeky git, I just did.

Put the shoes back in the Clarke's bag that was still in our bag cupboard along with the receipt and the printed off discount voucher and went back to Clarkes shop ten mins ago, And the lass their couldn't have been more helpful. She didn't even look at the shoes just gave me a full credit for the £80 they cost, then sold 'em to me again with 20% off so for £62.

So that's £16 for Children in Need tonight.

Anyone else planning on buying any Clarke's shoes, here's the 20% off voucher. Valid till 19 Nov
