Deck mast base rubber recommendations

Hi folks,
My deck stepped mast had unsightly rubber shims squeezed around it's base where it sat on the deck. See pictures.and



As the mast is now off and will be re-stepped in a few weeks I have been wondering is there a neater better solution.

One idea is to wrap either self-amalgamating or heat shrink tape around the mast base making sure the top is a bit thicker than the base like this, so it fits snugly when its dropped back in but i'm not sure of the durability of those 2 materials over time. Wondering if anyone else has had the same issue and if so what did you use?

Spartite make a 2-pack polymer sealant for keel-steppred masts which looks to be a very neat solution. I reckon that could work equally well for you.

Before you edited it, you'd included a link to a polyurethane resin kit. That might work, but I'd go for a tougher version, such as this...

Yes I took it out as it said it was not UV stable but now that I think of it if I poured it just below the lip of the collar and covered that with a uv stable sealant of some sort.....

I used some old conveyor belting under my mast step and you could also cut strips to support the sides.

Drill some drain holes in the sider of the base to allow water to drain out.

You could buy some aluminium plate and cut a square section first that bolted over the existing holes then fit another piece of aluminium on top of that. Cut it to the internal shape of the mast, Drill it & tap it to the bottom square.the mast would locate on that & all you would see is the bottom plate.
Then , fit some "U" bolts to the bottom plate to take some turning blocks.
You might even be able to buy a new mast base

The holes take the pins for the turning blocks. It is a 13 M long mast
