Hi,
So I'm at the stage where I have to decide between 2 used boats.
Both are the same age (2000) & generally the same design & size ( 22ft Cuddy / Small Cabin Cruiser) .
Condition & equipment for both is near identical.
One is a Fletcher with a 3.0L Mercruiser Petrol & Apha Gen2 stern drive which has lived in fresh water & has around 700hrs.
The other is a Gobbi 21 Cabin with a Evinrude 115 E-Tec Outboard, mixture of fresh & salt water use with only 90hrs.

Whichever I choose will be used in UK Coastal Waters & stored on the trailer at home & either appear to meet my needs.

Fletcher I know as a brand but there's the petrol inboard/stern-drive question mark.

Gobbi I am not really familiar with but it has the Outboard advantage.

Looking for some guidance, advice, help in making a decision.

Many Thanks

What models are both boats
Both 22yrs old easier to replace Outboard than sterndrive that's if it ever came to it.

Water test both with a few bodies on board. I had a 17ft with the mercruiser 3.0 and it struggled with 4 people on board. Cant speak to the outboard.

Not sure what the future is for Evinrude 115 E-Tec as the company has pulled out of the marine market.
Having said that, an outboard is far easier to replace than an inboard

Choice is clear for me, night and day. Outboard every time. Should be reflected by a higher valuation and easier resale. Evinrude etec is an economical engine that will be supported for years.

Fletcher hull is an amazing thing. The 3.0 is well known as the most numerous and most successful engine ever put in a boat of the last half a century nearly. Harsh..but bombproof.
the outboard boat would be also tempting, if it wasn’t that particular engine on it. Notorious for being difficult to put right after the smallest of faults show an alarm. Need a dealer reset for almost everything apparently. I’d also suggest it’s too small for a boat that size. Is the fletcher a 19 sportscruiser?
