I’ve gone through so many different toilet seat hinges. They’ve all been chrome plated rubbish and eventually rusted or come apart.

Does anyone know a really good toilet sea manufacturer which use really heavy duty hinges that won’t rust and you can clamp down tight without the bolts just pulling out of their fixing?

Is this for an existing head seat if so which one

The hinge on my Lavac broke and I made a new one from a 6mm rod and a 20 mm upstands both stainless steel

It had to be made a tight fit so the vacuum flush had to be correct.

Post a pic of your existing so we can see what the design looks like.

Any chance you could post an mage and dimensions, please?

Next time I go to my boat in early Jan next year (Lockdown permitting) I will measure up and take some close up pics

This is not a very good ick but if you look each side or the seal hinge there are 2 upstands of stainless rod about 20mm dia then are screws from under the seat mounting lugs on the bowl. There is a 6mm rod that passes through the seat hinge lugs and into a hole drilled into the stainless upstands.

The trick is to get the position of the 6mm rod so the seat seals correctly.

Mine is a stainless equivalent to parts 14 to 17 where 17a is a nylon washer to prevent damage to the bowl when fitting the upstand.

Just replaced mine with one of these from Screwfix. Quite lightweight but sturdy enough (and comfy) but most importantly it clamps down very securely & only the concealed bolts are metal - probably steel - & only 20 quid.

Great Value Product

Carrara and Matta

CARRARA & MATTA YORK SOFT-CLOSE STATITE TOILET SEAT THERMOPLASTIC WHITE (3064X)

That reminds me of when i went to south africa.
The hotel was so bad it even had an outside loo. ( perhaps you can comment being from that part of the world)
Service was awful that when i paid the bill I complained to the landlady about the hole in the toilet roof
Then I said " And on top of that there is no bloody lock on the toilet door"
She replied" Don't worry about that mate, We have been here 40 years & not had a bucket of s..t nicked yet"

I was expecting some comments like that but that is not how it looks today.

SWMDO declarer war on it following fitting and before use.

This is how it looks today and it also shows the electric pump I fitted subject to launching.

Any one who knows Lavac heads will notice that mine does not have the plastic bolt on base of it must be a very early design and works 120%

Some years ago I saw a Lavac at a boat bumble in the UL with a Black seat so would not show up any dirt. Not to my liking

You cannot see the hinges so no point in showing the pic for the hinge.

This pic shows my Jabsco converted to electric and with a home made African rosewood seat.

Yes con of the hotels I have stayed in Rural Africa can be quite grin.

I recall driving to Malawi via Zimbabwe and SWMBO need to loo at the boarder to Mozambique. The only one she could find was a "long drop" big hole in the ground and it you are lucky a seat and a wooden box.

I an sure anyone who has been to the far east/India has used a squat loo. SWMDO had to use one in Singapore and was not impressed.
