But it’s nicer to slither to a stop on a rising tide in Loder’s Cut and wait for the tide to make than it is to clout the cill!
Not having done either, so far, I am sure you are right. Having said that we mostly use the cut both ways because we have usually arrived fairly close to HW.
 
I can remember one boat become stuck on the cill and needing the marina work boat to tow it off via the main halyard!
Story at the time was that he had tried to slip out at the last moment on an early morning tide to avoid paying his bill. The marina presented him with a large bill for the “rescue work” in addition to his mooring fees.?
 
Worth remembering that the cill is not exactly level, the lowest point is about a quarter in from the left hand side when leaving. At least another 10 cm there. ?
