These photos were taken at low water 5th December with the Harwich tide gauge reading 0.73 above CD.

John White, the harbour master, has commented that as predicted the present channel is now closing up.

Have not used the Deben entrance for many many years now , but when I was a regular user the Northern Channel was often used , especially by local Fishing Boats ; maybe if its becomming the Main channel again its a good thing ?

I went in around half ebb a couple of weeks ago, sort of following the squiggly line. Mainly to keep out of the worst of the current. I was well inshore of the outer red.(cant remember its name at the moment)

John White has just posted on Facebook: “The Mid Knoll buoy is missing, the West Knoll buoy is out of position. Call me if you wish to transit the entrance”

Hi John,

Many thanks for posting these nelpful photos, together with John's views.

Hi Peter,

Thanks also for posting John's views. I would value access to John's FB page, but can't bring myself to sign up with an organisation that makes vast profit by selling their customers' personal data without telling them explicitly that they are doing so.

Peter.

Don't give them your details, data is only as valuble as it's acuracy, my login is ginger muffwigg with no more than a picture of a goats ar5e and the word "enjoy" such is my love of FB.
Look on most forum on jan 1st and see how many birthdays are shown, is that really sellable data?

Great idea, I can feel a Ginger Merkin coming on…

From Facebook:

Re our post the other day about the Deben entrance - the Mid Knoll buoy has been found on the beach.
In Belgium!
Trinity House told me this morning that they had prepared a replacement which may well be in place later today.View attachment 147612
They have not gone to get it yet then? Perhaps they think it will drift back when its 90 days are up. I wonder if they have filled the forms in correctly:rolleyes:
