Debbage's yard is now in its final couple of weeks, and neither IBC or ABP have diluted their intentions to clear the site completely. I think it's a bloody disgrace.

Anyway, with absolute predictability, ABP have stated that the Ransome's crane on-site will be scrapped. It's fully-working and is in-ticket, almost 100 years old with a lovely old Gardiner engine. It deserves to be saved IMO. Debbage's have offered it free-of-charge to anyone wishing to save it but that any interested parties would be responsible for all removal cost.

It's a bit of a long shot I realise, but do please spread the word and see if we can save this little piece of maritime history. Both the Wet Dock and New Cuts have a rich history; Ipswich was a major port for the grain ships.

It's not just the Ransome's crane either. Rumour has it that ABP want to demolish the remaining two Babcock cranes in the Wet Dock. They're listed I think, but that's rarely prevented wilful intent.

It’s all about money. The management at ABP (and the marina) have no knowledge about boats, no knowledge about history - mention of a Dunkirk boat went straight over their heads, and they have also let the lock keepers cottages fall into disrepair. This despite saying they would look after them!
IBC don’t care about the historic waterfront either.

I’ve just found the article in EADT.?Andrew Harston -who was a director OF ABP but maybe has gone… said that ABP recognised the historical importance of the buildings and that they would be incorporated into plans for the wet dock. That was in 2016
