Deadman's Island----Monday at 7:30pm

Humm thank you pks most interesting info and prog, yes the River Medway and surounding marshes, towns, Forts, Dockyards, Old Shipyards and Quays are full of recent history from out past. Well worth researching.

Yes agree - it was my formative boating area as 'nipper'.

The tales of Deadmans Island put us off landing there even though we were very curious :ambivalence:

The whole area is covered in history not just recent. A few years ago my son & i rowed ashore onto Bishops ooze at LW springs opposite bee ness jetty, within ten yards of the dinghy we picked up nose cones from WW2 &WW1 shells, victorian clay pipes, medieval stuff, romano british & bronze age pottery. Also worth looking at Kent history forums as there is plenty on there including an interesting thread on Burntwick island.

Ahoy there Keith, thank you for that infomation; humm yes you reminded me of times in the past where one could walk the tide line at Lower Halstow and pick up jars and bottles from where I understood in earlier times the Towns Waste was dumped and land reclaimed near the old brickwork's there.

Great fun and intrigue for sure.
