Hi,

Got a failed boost sensor, unfortunately in an early model ECU where it is fully encapsulated in compound. I have scraped off the top layers in an attempt to identify the sensor to replace it alone rather than the whole ECU, but no identifying marks were found. I stopped short of cutting it off the board, and replaced the ECU onto the engine, which now fires up and runs OK.

So, I am looking for a failed ECU which I can cut up to my hearts content in an attempt to see if there are any identifying marks on the underside of the boost sensor. I will of course pay P&P plus donation etc. For identifying purposes there are photo's of the casing label and inside the box:-

ECU_label_top.jpg ECU_whole.jpg

Thanks.

Yep, the full read can be found here

Long story short VP had stopped making / supplying them and failure meant a whole lot of worry for owners. Engagement with VP by forumites has resulted in plans to produce them again. I think they might be available now for a not insignificant number of shekels.

Thanks for the replies but I knew about, and indeed contributed to, the ECU thread. Easy, if expensive, option would be to replace the whole units, and that may yet be the route I am forced down.

Mathematics of the matter is:- boost sensor for a car around £30; VP price for the sensor in the later ECU's £300; replacement complete units around £4k. All times 2 'cos both are bust. So still trying to identify earlier boost sensors, hence request for scrap unit I can butcher. My own ECU is still working albeit only up to 2000 rpm, so I don't want to attack that any further and totally disable the engine.

Cheers.
