Suppose you have to moor in a tiny river (or inlet, or narrow bay, etc) with four ropes, two to each port starboard banks
How would you signal (day and night) the fact that it would be impossible/ very difficult to navigate that stretch of water?

I'd try to avoid doing that if there was any likelihood of other boats wanting to get "upstream" past me. But if essential, it might be prudent to hang something on the middle of the lines to make them more visible. A red rag would be fine during the day, but it needs to be lit at night. Chemical lightsticks would be ideal, though the only ones I have on board are in the liferaft grab-bag since I don't expect to ever moor that way in my normal cruising area.

I'd also hang up my anchor light which illuminates the deck of the boat and makes it very clear I'm there.

Some people seem to think that practice is acceptable between the fingers of adjacent pontoon berths and don't bother with any warning signs.
