This is strictly non-boaty but might be useful to know. Can you destroy a conventional lead acid battery by completely discharging it? My ancient Audi seems to have discharged its battery completely after sitting idle for a couple of days. It’s heading for the scrap-yard anyway, but I can‘t charge the battery even with an old trickle charger that has always been able to revive the deadest of batteries.

Certainly can.

As above - most likely cream crackered !!

There is an old trick to get a reluctant battery to start charging .... connect another battery in parallel ... but with extreme care as the charged battery will try to dump its load faster than a rabbit gets f***** ... depending on the fault - it could be extremely dangerous.,
I do not recc'd it.
