De-Registering French Boat to Put on SSR -

This is now resolved.
After a few more weeks of being asked for this certificate d'exportation I phoned HMRC to be sure and they of course confirmed that they had no interest in the boat all the time it remained in France.
So I emailed the broker saying that I have proved that I am English, proved i live in England and as such am not allowed to have a french registered boat anyway. Told him our Customs were not interested in the boat as long as it stayed in France and suggested that the person dealing with this on the French Customs side may have got things wrong, and by the way here is a copy of my SSR Registration for the boat.
Two hours later the broker calls me up, "Dont worry, all sorted, boat now deregistered, paperwork to follow"
I asked what the problem had been. The answer....
"Oh, the English have a different way of doing things but it is all sorted now!"
I think the phrase is "Go figure..."

I’m pleased you got it sorted. It will always be difficult for the first pioneers to go through the process. Let’s hope your efforts pave the way for easier EU transactions in the future.

I think the key thing was the proof that he was not resident in France.
Which will be a disapointment to the Douanes as they will not longer get any yearly tax.

You don’t mention if the boat is VAT paid but from westernman’s excellent posting above it could be worth a double check….you could be liable.
I bought a French Registered boat when I lived in France in the documents with the boat was the original VAT paid receipt in French Francs from 1986. I believe that the French keep documents longer than we do.
